Lindsay Lohan has been named the artistic director of the French Fashion House, Emanuel Ungaro. This move has stirred up all kinds of controversy, exactly as planned.
Lindsay Lohan has not really been doing much these days as far as acting goes. So what is a fashionista like herself to do – become an artistic director for Ungaro of course!
This move has stirred up all kinds of controversy, which is exactly what it was meant to do. Since Lindsay was brought on board, Esteban Cortazar the designer of Ungaro has resigned.
It seems that the 43 year old fashion house is having trouble in sales and that the average age range of people purchasing their line is 60. Lindsay is being brought in to not only give her advice, as she is a Hollywood trendsetter, but to also draw attention to the label. Even thought this maybe perceived as negative attention, it has people talking about the Fashion House, putting it back on the radar. And of course, everyone is waiting to see what Lindsay can do for them. Mr. Moufarrige who joined the label in 2006 says,
“She’s a very clever person. She’s not a designer. She’s an artistic adviser. She gives ideas on what she would wear. And I needed to bring down the average age group of Ungaro. The average age right now is 60.”
Lindsay expressed excitement over the new venture saying, she wants to take the brand “to a younger place, with a harder fashion edge. When I’m involved in a project, I give my all to it. To be in a position where I’m working with a fashion house in Paris sets it apart from every other celebrity brand.”
