There are reports swirling around that the legendary and inspiring Maya Angelou was hospitalized early on Saturday evening. Now while Angelou was scheduled to be honored at the BraveHeart Awards in Los Angeles, it has been reported that Maya was not present. The clincher here is that Angelou was not required or even scheduled to appear at the event to accept the honor, however one would think that an honor as such would be one in which she would have accepted in person graciously.
TMZ is reporting that they were told that Maya Angelou was not present at the BraveHeart Awards and wouldn’t be present because she was taken to a hospital. However, Angelou’s people are saying that Angelou never agreed to being at the awards ceremony and she sent a taped acceptable speech to be shown at the show in her place.
So is this report false? CNN news editor Saeed Ahmed says it is as they shared on Twitter today, “Contrary to TMZ report, Maya Angelou is fine, at home, & wasn’t even in LA Sat nite, said her literary agent Helen Brann.”
It is known that Angelou is alive and well and is hanging out in St. Louis today. She is said to be traveling to New York City for the next 2-3 weeks.
